# St John the Evangelist, Treslothan

St John's is a Grade II parish church in the model village of Treslothan, Camborne, Cornwall, in the Diocese of Truro.

## Overview

Historic England records a church of 1840–42 by George Wightwick of Plymouth, for E. W. W. Pendarves; it was restored in 1880 and altered in 1899. The fabric is snecked red killas rubble with granite ashlar dressings under a slate roof. The plan is a six-bay nave with south porch, a small one-bay chancel, and an added north transept and vestry. The style is Early English, with chamfered lancets, a stepped triple-lancet west window and a gable bellcote. The interior has a wagon roof with queen-post trusses on corbelled wall-posts.

The Camborne Cluster states that the church was built as a chapel of ease for the south-west of Camborne parish in Pendarves's model village. The listing notes, in the south chapel, an altar stone of about 1000–1050 inscribed Aegured, and a fifteenth-century font from Camborne church. Historic England's Heritage at Risk entry describes the church as built as the chapel to Pendarves House (now demolished) and notes nave-roof problems that have required protective netting. The Church Heritage Record names the parish St John Treslothan.
