# All Saints, Thornage

All Saints is a Grade II* Church of England parish church on The Street, Thornage, North Norfolk, in the Diocese of Norwich.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church of the eleventh century and later, restored in 1898. The fabric is flint under plain tiles, the unbuttressed three-stage west tower in galletted knapped flint with stone dressings, an embattled parapet and nineteenth-century crocketed pinnacles. Tower, nave and chancel run in one, with a north porch and a south-west addition. The north-west nave quoin includes long-and-short stonework. The Norfolk Heritage Explorer notes that Domesday records a church here in 1086 and that the long-and-short work may indicate a late Saxon origin. Three eleventh-century double-splayed round-headed windows survive in the nave and chancel, their arches using radiating thin bricks.

The north porch has a wide four-centred triple-chamfered arch and an ogee-headed niche above; its roof was restored in 1900. The north facade also has a three-light square-headed nave window. The chancel has a brick dentil cornice and an east window of three irregular pointed lights. The south side mixes Decorated two-light work with later square-headed nave windows. Inside, the listing records a civilian monument and an incised slab on the west wall under the tower. The church stands in a village west of Holt.
