# St Bartholomew, Sutton cum Lound

St Bartholomew’s is a Grade I parish church on Church Lane, Sutton cum Lound, Nottinghamshire, in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham: a twelfth- to fifteenth-century church with fine Decorated tracery.

## Overview

Historic England lists a parish church of the twelfth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, restored in 1857. The fabric is ashlar with some coursed rubble, buttressed and set on a moulded plinth. The plan comprises tower, nave, north aisle and chapel, chancel and south porch. The angle-buttressed tower of two stages has a fifteenth-century three-light west window with panel tracery, fifteenth-century two-light belfry openings, and an embattled parapet with eight crocketed pinnacles. The east chancel window is a large restored fourteenth-century five-light opening with elaborate curvilinear tracery; the south chancel has two restored fourteenth-century three-light windows of the same character and a doorway with open cusped tracery in the arch.

The village site dates the church to around nine hundred years and notes parish registers from 1538. Visits can be arranged through the parish; the church has accessible toilets and level access to the main areas.
