# St Petrock and St Keri, Egloskerry

The parish church of Egloskerry, listed as Church of St Keria, is a Grade II church in the centre of the village, Cornwall, in the Diocese of Truro and the parish of Egloskerry with Tresmere.

## Overview

Historic England records Norman fabric, a fifteenth-century tower and south aisle, and restoration in 1879 (with further work in 1887). The church stands on a high mound. The three-stage west tower has a battlemented parapet and crocketed finials and Perpendicular two-light belfry openings with slate louvres. A blocked north door retains a Norman tympanum of a dragon devouring its tail. The granite ashlar south porch has a three-centred roll-moulded arch and an original wagon roof with bosses carved from single pieces of timber. Inside are a fifteenth-century tower arch, a Norman arch to the north transept, a five-bay south arcade of Pevsner type A piers, a Norman font with cable-moulded rim and a Norman piscina. An Agnus Dei tympanum, found as building stone in 1887, is reset over the south door.

Monuments include Speccott memorials of 1644–1705, a helmet and gauntlet attributed to Sir John Speccott, and an alabaster figure probably of Sir Guy Blanchminster (Cornwall Historic Churches Trust suggests Edward Hastings of Penheale, d.1510). GENUKI notes an earlier dedication to St Ide and St Lydy (1260) and rededication to St Keria in 1506.
