# St Peter, Warmsworth

St Peter’s on Warmsworth Road, Doncaster — known locally as the White Church — is a Grade II parish church of 1939–42 by Brundell & Faran, consecrated in 1942, in the Diocese of Sheffield.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church of 1939–42 designed by Brundell & Faran of Doncaster and built by P. P. Taylor: painted and rendered brick with brick dressings and blue/green glazed pantile roofs; a broad nave with west porch and a domed chancel with flanking Lady Chapel and vestry. The east end has a canted apse under a pantiled half-dome and an octagonal dome. The interior has a herring-bone wood-block floor and a nineteenth-century stone font from the former church. Listed Grade II on 17 January 2003 (NHLE 1096038) as a late 1930s church. It replaced an earlier church nearer the river. Historic England’s Heritage at Risk entry notes consecration in 1942 and a wartime broadcast mention by William Joyce. The parish of Warmsworth traces rectors from 1235.
