# St Peter & St Paul, Todwick

St Peter and St Paul is the Grade II* parish church of Todwick, South Yorkshire, an eleventh-century nave church with a fourteenth-century chancel and fifteenth-century west tower, in the Diocese of Sheffield.

## Overview

Historic England dates an eleventh-century nave with later porch and windows, a chancel of fourteenth-century origin, a fifteenth-century tower, and eighteenth- and nineteenth-century alterations. The nave is rubble sandstone; the rest ashlar and coursed squared limestone, with lead and slate roofs. The three-stage Perpendicular tower has diagonal buttresses, a three-light west window, louvred belfry openings and an embattled parapet with eight crocketed pinnacles. A blocked eleventh-century north door survives. The gabled south porch has a round-arched doorway and a cuboidal apex sundial; the inner doorway is also round-headed (Norman). The porch roof retains fourteenth-century moulded cambered tie-beams, one carved with a scallop shell.

The unrestored fourteenth-century three-light east window has intersecting glazing bars. The church was listed Grade II* on 29 July 1986 (NHLE 1151903).
