# St Peter, Raithby

St Peter’s is a Grade II parish church in Raithby cum Maltby, about a mile south-west of Louth in the Lincolnshire Wolds, in the Diocese of Lincoln. The address The Row and postcode LN11 9RR identify this Raithby, not Raithby by Spilsby.

## Overview

Historic England dates the church to 1839 by W. A. Nicholson, reusing some late-thirteenth-century fragments. Lincolnshire Heritage Explorer notes a late-thirteenth-century north arcade retained from the medieval church, a sister rebuild to Haugham paid for by the Revd Henry Chaplin, and a chancel restoration of 1883 by C. H. Fowler. The fabric is rendered brick with some green sandstone rubble; lead roofs are hidden behind high parapets or battlements. The plan is a west tower, nave with north aisle and south porch, and a chancel with polygonal east end, with pinnacles and an ornate openwork parapet.

Wikipedia records a fifteenth-century font and some sixteenth-century imported glass. Heritage Explorer describes eleven stained-glass roundels, ten Netherlandish and one German, of the fifteenth century and late sixteenth to early seventeenth century. The parish is Raithby cum Maltby.
