# St Peter, Newton on Trent

St Peter’s, off High Street in Newton on Trent, Lincolnshire, is a Grade II* Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Lincoln.

## Overview

Historic England lists the Church of St Peter (NHLE 1064109, listed 16 December 1964). The list records a parish church of the twelfth century, early thirteenth century, fifteenth century and an 1876 restoration, in coursed blue lias rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, some red brick, render and slate roofs. The four-stage twelfth-century west tower has a battlemented parapet and an early-thirteenth-century west doorway with keeled and round shafts and stiff-leaf capitals. The three-bay early-thirteenth-century north nave arcade has quatrefoil piers and fine stiff-leaf capitals. A recut round-headed twelfth-century light survives in the south wall. The north aisle is a mid-nineteenth-century rebuilding; the chancel is early nineteenth century and rendered. No separate parish website was found.
