# St Peter, Falstone

St Peter at Falstone, Northumberland, is an unlisted parish church rebuilt in 1892 after fire, in the parish of Falstone with Greystead and Thorneyburn, Diocese of Newcastle.

## Overview

A chapel at Falstone is recorded by the seventeenth century. A new church of 1824 by John and Benjamin Green, built on Greenwich Hospital advice at a cost of £1,040, was damaged by a flue fire in 1882 and almost destroyed on 26 December 1890; only the tower walls remained. Plummer and Burrell of Newcastle prepared the rebuild; the church was consecrated and dedicated to St Peter on 25 May 1892 by Bishop George Henry Stanton of Newcastle. Pevsner notes that the porch and chancel were added and window tracery inserted at this time. The Church Heritage Record states that the building itself is not listed; several churchyard gravestones are Grade II. The church stands in Northumberland National Park.
