# St Peter, Conisholme

St Peter is a Grade I parish church on Church Lane in Conisholme, East Lindsey, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln. Historic England dates the fabric to the late twelfth century, with later work of the fifteenth century, 1761, 1853 and 1876.

## Overview

The listing describes a reduced church of nave with west bellcote and chancel, built of greenstone, ironstone and limestone rubble, limestone ashlar and red brick, under pantile roofs with brick and stone coped gables. The west front was rebuilt in red brick in 1853, with flanking buttresses, a lancet and a gabled bellcote. The north side of the nave shows the outlines of four blocked north arcade bays, two picked out in red tiles, and a 1761 window with a round red-brick head and wooden Y-tracery. The east end was restored in 1876 and has a fifteenth-century east window with a flattened triangular head. The south doorway of 1761 has a stone inscribed ID 1761.

Inside, four bays of the north arcade survive. Lincolnshire Heritage Explorer notes scant remains of a Norman doorway arch and an Early English four-bay arcade. An Anglo-Saxon wheel cross was found in the churchyard. The church is now a festival church in the parish of Conisholme.
