# St Paulinus, Llangors

The Church of St Paulinus (St Peulin) stands in the centre of Llangors village beside Nant Cwy, a Grade II* medieval church in the Church in Wales Diocese of Swansea and Brecon, near Llangorse Lake.

## Overview

Cadw records a medieval church substantially enlarged and remodelled in the fifteenth century by the addition of a large south aisle and west tower, restored in 1874 by T. Nicholson with a sanctuary added. The fabric is red sandstone rubble with matching ashlar and a Welsh slate roof. The three-storey west tower has an embattled parapet; the south aisle is unusually long and wide, with Perpendicular tracery and a mass dial. Interior fittings include a three-bay aisle arcade on octagonal piers, medieval wagon roofs with reeded ribs, an octagonal font, a pew dated 1677, fragments of early Christian stones, and a complete ring of six bells from the Evans foundry in a frame of 1721. An organ of 1764 from St John’s, Cardiff, was installed in 1894. Cadw listed the church at Grade II* on 17 January 1963 (record 6761) as a medieval church retaining much of its fabric.

The earliest records of a church on the site date from 1121; the font has been dated around 1300.
