# St Paul, Hamstead

St Paul is a Grade II Church of England parish church on Walsall Road, Hamstead, Birmingham, built in 1891–92 by William Davis and consecrated in 1892, in the Diocese of Birmingham.

## Overview

Historic England lists the Anglican Church of St Paul (1393387) as a late-nineteenth-century church by William Davis. A temporary mission church of 1865 was replaced after a site was given in 1890. The foundation stone was laid in July 1891 and the church was consecrated in 1892; it became a parish church in 1894. The listing notes stained glass by A. J. Davies of the Bromsgrove Guild, Walter Camm and others, and the church’s historic link with Hamstead Colliery (1878–1965). A bell fleche was dismantled in 1969 after becoming unsafe.
