# St Paul, Bisterne

St Paul’s is a Grade II church on the B3347 at Bisterne, near Ringwood, Hampshire, in the Diocese of Winchester and the parish of Ringwood St Peter and St Paul.

## Overview

Historic England records a church of 1842 by G. Evans: yellow brick on a brick and stone plinth, with stone dressings and a slate roof. The plan is a two-narrow-bay chancel with north vestry and a nave of three wide bays with narrow bays at each end. The east end has a triple lancet and gabled diagonal buttresses; the west front has a large pointed door, paired lancets and a trefoil in a small gable, behind which stands an octagon-plan conical-roofed stone bellcote.

The Victoria County History, cited by Wikipedia, describes a nave of five bays, aisles, north porch and a tower with spire containing one bell. The church was built for the Bisterne estate, whose manor house remained with the Mills family after William Mills bought the manor in 1792.
