Overview
East Riding Archives record a long Hull nonconformist succession: an Independent congregation from 1643, Dagger Lane Chapel (1698), later the Bethel Chapel of the United Presbyterian congregation (from 1838), then Spring Bank Presbyterian Church (opened 1875), replaced by St Ninian’s on Chanterlands Avenue, built in 1931. The National Churches Trust notes that problems with the Spring Bank building prompted the move to the new suburbs, and that the Chanterlands Avenue church opened in 1932.
In 1972 the congregation became St Ninian’s United Reformed Church when the Presbyterian Church of England united with the Congregational Union. In 1980 it became the church of the united congregation of St Ninian’s and St Andrew’s. The building is not listed, and no architect or fabric description has been confirmed from listing or official architectural sources.
