# St Nicholas, Snitterby

St Nicholas is a Grade II Church of England parish church on Church Lane (listed as Moor Road), Snitterby, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln.

## Overview

Historic England dates the present church to 1866 by James Fowler of Louth. It comprises a three-stage west tower, nave, apsidal chancel, south porch and vestry, in coursed and rock-faced limestone rubble with stone slate roofs. The lower two stages of the tower appear to retain medieval masonry; the tower has a battlemented parapet, angle pinnacles and a south stair turret. A predecessor church of 1780, which had a clerestory with quatrefoil windows, was demolished before the Fowler rebuild.

The interior walls are red brick with ashlar and black-brick bands, and the chancel and other arches have polychrome brick voussoirs. Fittings are contemporary with the rebuild; Pevsner noted good fittings probably also by Fowler. The church is a festival church in the parish of Snitterby.
