# St Nicholas, Chislehurst

St Nicholas is the Grade II* parish church of Chislehurst, in the London Borough of Bromley and the Diocese of Rochester.

## Overview

Historic England lists the church (1064345, 25 August 1954). The listing describes a parish church of about 1460 incorporating earlier work, restored in 1557 and enlarged by Benjamin Ferrey in 1849, Wollaston in 1858 and Bodley and Garner in 1896. It is flint rubble with stone dressings. The tower over the west bay of the north aisle dates from about 1460; Wollaston rebuilt the tall shingled broach spire in 1858. Ferrey added the south aisle and vestry. Bodley and Garner enlarged the east end and refitted the chancel with a painted wagon roof and an 1896 reredos. The Norman font has a square arcaded bowl on five shafts. Monuments include the Walsingham tomb of 1550. The parish website is stnicholas-chislehurst.org.uk.
