# St Mylor, Mylor Harbour

St Mylor is a Grade I parish church at Mylor Churchtown, beside Mylor Harbour on the Fal, in the Diocese of Truro.

## Overview

Historic England lists a parish church whose plan is a twelfth-century nave and chancel under one roof, a twelfth-century north transept, a fifteenth-century south aisle with chapel, south porch, north rood-stair turret and west-gable bell turret, plus a small nineteenth-century sacristy. The original church was probably cruciform; the south transept was replaced by a Caen-stone arcade in the fifteenth century. Restoration around 1870 included re-roofing, resetting of windows and some rebuilding. The west gable has a Norman-style round-headed doorway incorporating twelfth-century carved bases, roll moulding, nook shafts and a leaf-carved tympanum, a fifteenth-century three-light Perpendicular window and an embattled turret. The north wall retains a fine Norman doorway with chevron and a flared cross on the tympanum. Listing NGR: SW8202635242.

The Church Heritage Record and Wikipedia add local shale rubble with granite and Caen stone, a detached campanile about twelve metres west (separately listed Grade II), a medieval rood-screen base, and a churchyard cross that is a scheduled monument. CRSBI treats surviving Romanesque doorways as among the earlier Norman work in Cornwall. Tradition associates the site with St Mylor (Melorus).
