# St Michael, Waddington

St Michael’s is the parish church of Waddington, Lincolnshire, on the High Street about five miles south of Lincoln, in the Diocese of Lincoln. It is not a listed building.

## Overview

Domesday Book records a church and priest at Waddington. The medieval church, of twelfth-century origin and rebuilt in 1721, was destroyed by a German landmine on the night of 8 May 1941 during a raid associated with nearby RAF Waddington. A large stiff-leaf capital from the old church survives.

The present building, of Ancaster stone with a north-west tower and a large west window, was built in 1952–54 by R. Corless of Skipper & Corless of Lowestoft and consecrated in 1954. The churchyard includes Commonwealth war graves from both world wars. This is Waddington in Lincolnshire, not the Yorkshire village of the same name.
