# St Michael, Brimfield

St Michael’s is a Grade II* parish church on Church Road, Brimfield, Herefordshire, in the Diocese of Hereford, a village church whose thirteenth-century west tower is paired with a nave and chancel of 1834.

## Overview

Historic England lists a parish church of the thirteenth century, partly rebuilt in 1834, restored in 1884 and 1904–5 and extended in 1908. The fabric is coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The plan is a thirteenth-century west tower (raised in the sixteenth century), nave and chancel of 1834, and a north porch and vestry of 1908. The three-stage tower has a close-studded timber-framed belfry, probably sixteenth-century, with louvred two-light openings. Lower stages retain small semi-circular headed windows; a nineteenth-century two-centred window cuts through one of them, and a blocked door with a semi-elliptical head remains on the north. Listing NGR is SO 52684 67493.

The three-bay nave has two-light trefoiled windows under two-centred heads. The 1908 porch is timber-framed on a stone plinth with rendered infill. The chancel has a two-light north window and a three-light east window. Interior ceilings are plastered segmental vaults. Fittings include a thirteenth-century font with a quatrefoil bowl and an Arts and Crafts lectern of wrought iron and brass. The church is in the Western Parishes of the Leominster Team Ministry.
