# St Michael the Archangel, Felton

St Michael the Archangel is a Grade II parish church at Felton, Herefordshire, in the Diocese of Hereford and the ecclesiastical parish of Felton and Preston Wynne.

## Overview

Historic England and the listing description record a Gothic Revival church of 1853-54 by Thomas Nicholson of Hereford, one of his earliest works, with a south porch and pyramid roof to the tower added in 1891 by Nicholson and Son, who also enlarged the vestry. The fabric is coursed local grey sandstone with buff-coloured dressings and a slate roof: nave with lower, narrower chancel, west tower, south porch and north vestry.

The church is in Decorated style. The three-stage tower has diagonal buttresses, a north-east turret, two-light louvred bell openings and a pyramidal shingle roof behind an embattled parapet. A niche above the south entrance holds a figure of St Michael. Most fittings, including benches and glass, belong to the 1850s; the listing notes the benches as a good example of maintained family pews. The east window has geometrical tracery and stained glass depicting Christ.
