Overview

St Mary's in Plas Power, a 19th-century parish church, was designed by John Gibson and built by George Clark, funded entirely by Thomas Lloyd FitzHugh.

The first service was held in January 1876. Emily Mary FitzHugh influenced the choice of architect and organ builder. Originally built without a bell tower, one was added later.

In 1917, Ethel FitzHugh installed a carillon of eight bells in memory of her husband, Captain Godfrey FitzHugh, which are still in use today.
