Overview

The parish website records that in 1934 services began in a garage at 25 Devon Close; a dual-purpose hall on Federal Road was dedicated as St Nicholas in 1935. Victoria County History dates that hall-church to 1934. A permanent church by Laurence King, begun in the early 1960s on land in front of the hall, served until concrete failure made it unsafe; it was demolished in spring 2014. calfordseaden designed a replacement church centre opened in 2015: a fully glazed, BREEAM Excellent ground-floor church and hall for about 200, with ten affordable flats above, seven houses and a new vicarage, in partnership with Ealing Council and ASRA Housing Group. The scheme includes a landmark spire and a baptism pool. The present Federal Road building is not listed. The medieval St Mary’s on Perivale Lane remains as the Friends of St Mary arts venue.
