# St Mary Magdalene, Sparkford

The Church of St Mary Magdalene on Church Road, Sparkford, is a Grade II* parish church of the fourteenth century and later, with a nave of 1824 by Thomas Ellis, in the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

## Overview

Historic England records local grey lias with Ham stone dressings and Welsh slate roofs: a two-bay chancel, three-bay nave, south-east vestry and chapel, and a west tower. The chancel is largely fourteenth- and fifteenth-century; Ellis rebuilt the nave in 1824. Interior fittings are mostly nineteenth-century, with a seventeenth-century altar table among earlier pieces. Listed Grade II* on 24 March 1961 (NHLE 1243352). The parish of Sparkford belongs to the Cam Vale benefice.
