Overview
Historic England lists the Church of St Mary Magdalen (NHLE 1146568, listed 30 June 1966). The list records a parish church of about 1180–90 and the mid fourteenth century, restored in 1798, 1843 and 1860–62 by C. Bennett of Lynn, in limestone rubble and ashlar with concrete-tile and lead roofs. The nave has late-twelfth-century five-bay north and south arcades on round piers. The chancel was rebuilt in 1843. Window tracery was largely renewed in the nineteenth century. A detached tower and spire stand west of the church, a local landmark of the Fenland parish. Medieval stained glass of about 1310–40 is recorded in the Lincolnshire HER. The church was given to Castle Acre Priory in the twelfth century.
