Overview

Historic England lists a parish church of the sixteenth century with a reused twelfth-century south doorway, restored and enlarged in 1804, extensively restored and partly rebuilt in 1864–66 by Paley, with the chancel extended in 1903–04 by Austin and Paley, who also refurnished the east end of the south aisle in 1923 as a war memorial chapel. The fabric is sandstone and limestone rubble with red sandstone dressings and slate roofs. The plan comprises a west tower, nave with clerestory, south aisle and south porch, a north aisle under a pitched roof, and a chancel. The three-stage tower has angle buttresses, an embattled parapet and a three-light Perpendicular west window. The south doorway is reset, with a round arch of cable ornament. Seven-bay arcades of 1804 have pointed chamfered arches on octagonal columns. The open timber roof has braced collar trusses alternating with king-posts.

The parish name records the union with Holy Trinity after that church closed. The church is open on weekdays in the morning, with level access throughout.
