# St Mary, Harrington

St Mary is a Grade II* parish church on Church Lane, Harrington, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln. Historic England records a thirteenth-century church largely rebuilt in 1854-55 by S. S. Teulon.

## Overview

The listing describes dressed greenstone with slate roofs: a thirteenth-century tower heightened in the nineteenth century, nave, south porch and chancel. Of the medieval church the tower arch and smaller details survive, including the font, a chancel seat and a fourteenth-century effigy of a cross-legged knight. Lincolnshire Heritage Explorer notes a fifteenth-century brass and monuments to successive lords of the manor.

A chantry was founded here in 1334 by John de Harrington. The Victorian rebuild was commissioned by the Revd Robert Wentworth Cracroft. The octagonal fifteenth-century font bowl carries coats of arms and supporting figures. The church stands in a rural churchyard in the East Lindsey Wolds.
