Overview
Historic England records a church of 1826–28 by Charles Watson and J. P. Pritchett, of deeply coursed, horizontally tooled sandstone with tile roofs. The orientation is almost north–south: a five-bay nave and chancel in one, with a school room in a half-basement beneath the chancel, and a tower at the north end flanked by low porches. The style is Gothic Revival, with hoodmoulds, embattled parapets and crocketed corner pinnacles. The tower has full-height offset diagonal buttresses, a transomed two-light window over the door, and a crested balustrade linking pinnacles.
The interior has a west gallery with a balustrade of trefoil-headed panels bearing the Royal Arms. Eighteenth-century benefaction boards in the porches were salvaged from Holy Trinity Chapel, which formerly occupied the site. An octagonal font has a Jacobean carved-oak cover, later raised as a canopy, removed from Rotherham All Saints around 1875. The listing notes that the church was largely financed by the Church Commissioners and William, Earl Fitzwilliam, who managed the building.
