# St Mary and Christ Church, Llanfairfechan

Christ Church, now St Mary and Christ Church, is a Grade II Church in Wales church on Aber Road, Llanfairfechan, Conwy, in the Diocese of Bangor. The D1 town spelling Llanfarifechan is the same settlement as Llanfairfechan.

## Overview

Cadw lists Christ Church, south-west of the junction of Aber Road and Village Road (reference 3512; designated 14 April 1992). It was consecrated on 5 August 1864. The architects were C. and J. Shaw of Saddleworth; costs were borne by John Platt of Bryn-y-Neuadd Hall. A memorial north aisle for Platt was added in 1874; a new chancel, vestry and organ chamber followed in 1892. The building is buff rock-faced stone with a tower and octagonal stone spire. Coflein records that after the old parish church of St Mary closed in 1999, Christ Church was re-dedicated to incorporate the historic dedication to St Mary. The older St Mary’s (Cadw 3571, Grade II, consecrated 11 October 1849, Henry Kennedy) stands in a churchyard above the village and is a separate listed building. The present congregation is in Plwyf Dwylan.
