# Bole St Martin

St Martin’s is a Grade II parish church on Church Street, Bole, Nottinghamshire, in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham and the parish of Bole with Saundby.

## Overview

Historic England lists a parish church of the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries, restored in 1866 by Ewan Christian, in dressed stone and ashlar with coursed rubble and slate roofs. The plan is a west tower and tower chamber, nave, chancel and south porch, with crenellated parapets and coped east gables. The fourteenth-century west tower has two stages, diagonal buttresses, an eaves band with eight gargoyles, crocketed pinnacles, a pointed west triple lancet and double-lancet bell openings. Wikipedia, following Pevsner, dates the restoration to 1865–66. Fittings noted in the listing include a timber pulpit, a brass of 1668 to Nicholaus Browne, and a 1918 war-memorial brass by Herbert Wauthier. The dedication is to Martin of Tours.
