# St Margaret of Antioch, West Hoathly

St Margaret’s is a Grade I parish church on the east side of Queen’s Square, West Hoathly, West Sussex, in the Diocese of Chichester.

## Overview

Historic England records a chancel with south chapel, nave with south aisle and porch, and a west tower with a broached shingled spire. The nave is dated about 1060, the south aisle about 1175 and widened about 1330, the chancel about 1250, the south chapel about 1270, and the tower about 1400. Slater and Carpenter restored the church in 1870.

The listing notes a heavily buttressed Perpendicular west tower. Wikipedia records that the original dedication to Saint Margaret of Antioch fell out of use for centuries until it was rediscovered, and that English Heritage listed the church at Grade I on 28 October 1957.
