# St Maelog, Llanfaelog

St Maelog’s is a Grade II Church in Wales parish church in the centre of Llanfaelog, Anglesey, set back from the junction of the A4080 and the Bryn Du road, in the Diocese of Bangor.

## Overview

Cadw records that the present church was built in 1848 to replace the old church of St Maelog on a different site within the churchyard (reference 5299; designated 5 April 1971). The architect was H. Kennedy of Bangor. It is a small Decorated church of rubble with gritstone dressings and slate roofs: a four-bay nave with west bellcote, south porch, shorter chancel, north vestry and lean-to. Cadw includes it as a competently designed Gothic Revival church from the mid-nineteenth-century rebuilding programme on Anglesey, forming a group with the nearby rectory and former National School. This is Llanfaelog on Anglesey, not Llandefaelog Fach in Powys.
