# St Luke, Slyne with Hest

St Luke’s is a Grade II Church of England parish church on Shady Lane (Manor Lane), Slyne-with-Hest, Lancaster, in the Diocese of Blackburn.

## Overview

Historic England lists the church as 1898 on the foundation stone (NHLE 1071855; listed 7 November 1983). It was built in 1898–1900 to designs by the Lancaster architects Austin and Paley (also reported as Paley and Austin), at a cost of £2,358, with seating for 180. The Builder of 4 August 1900 recorded that the Bishop of Manchester had recently consecrated it. The fabric is snecked sandstone rubble with a red tile roof, in free Gothic: nave, north aisle, timbered north porch, and a squat tower with hipped roof between nave and chancel. It began as a chapel of ease to Holy Trinity, Bolton-le-Sands, and became a parish church in 1934. The parish is now St Luke, Slyne with Hest, in a united benefice with St Saviour, Aughton, and St Wilfrid, Halton. No separate parish website beyond A Church Near You was found.
