Overview
Historic England lists an Anglican parish church of the thirteenth, fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, with restorations in the 1860s and about 1910. The fabric is limestone ashlar, with a stone-slate chancel roof and a lead nave roof. The plan is a west tower, south aisle and nave, chancel and north chapel, and north and south porches. The north side of the nave has three-light Perpendicular windows, buttresses carried up to crocketed pinnacles above a battlemented parapet, and a square sanctus bellcote on the east gable. Cast-iron rainwater heads are dated 1867.
The early sixteenth-century south aisle has three-light Perpendicular windows and a battlemented parapet with gargoyles. The three-stage west tower has a low nineteenth-century porch around an original Tudor-arched doorway. Inside, the listing notes a three-bay south aisle, a moulded pointed chancel arch, an early twentieth-century traceried screen, a nineteenth-century barrel-vaulted chancel ceiling, and a panelled stone reredos with mosaics of the Four Evangelists, St Leonard and St Aldhelm. Village history records the dedication in use by 1396 after the advowson passed from Shaftesbury Abbey to Edington Priory.
