# St John the Divine, Southrey

St John the Divine is a Church of England church on Ferry Road, Southrey, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln and the parish of Bardney.

## Overview

Lincolnshire’s Historic Environment Record (MLI115782) records a church built in Southrey in 1898. Pevsner, quoted in the HER, describes it as built of wood by the parishioners in 1898, “like the church of an outpost of the Commonwealth”: painted white, with a west porch, a small bell-turret and a large weathercock. The church stands on a stone plinth incorporating grave-covers said to be from Bardney Abbey. Street-view notes in the HER describe a small rectangular building with a tiled roof and a west doorway under a porch; the exterior has later been clad. The Church Heritage Record states that the building is not listed. It remains an open village church serving Southrey within the Bardney parish.
