# St Helena, Kirmington

St Helena’s (listed as the Church of St Helen) is a Grade II* parish church on Main Street in Kirmington, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln and the Brocklesby Park group.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church with a thirteenth-century tower, an early fourteenth-century north arcade and a later fourteenth-century south arcade. The spire was erected in 1838. Restorations of 1859–60 by S. S. Teulon included partially rebuilding the chancel, opening blocked arcades and the tower arch, and providing new aisles; the spire was restored in 1895. The tower is much-weathered ironstone ashlar; the remainder is limestone and ironstone with limestone ashlar dressings, a Welsh slate roof and a copper-covered wooden hexagonal spire with weathercock.

The plan has a west tower, a four-bay aisled nave and a two-bay chancel with a north vestry. Windows are nineteenth-century with geometrical tracery. The interior has a tall triple-chamfered segmental-pointed tower arch and a north arcade of pointed double-chamfered arches on broad filleted quatrefoil piers with water-holding bases. Wikipedia notes that the church is part of the Brocklesby Park Group in the Deanery of Yarborough.
