# St Helen, Willingham by Stow

St Helen’s is the Grade II parish church of Willingham by Stow, Lincolnshire, a mid-twelfth-century church largely rebuilt in 1880, in the Diocese of Lincoln.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church of mid-twelfth-century origin, with late seventeenth-century work and a rebuild of 1880 by Brodrick and Smith. The plan is west tower, nave with south porch, and a rectangular chancel with north vestry. The unbuttressed west tower retains a small Norman west window; a blocked twelfth-century north doorway survives. The 1880 work remodelled the tower with Decorated-style bell openings, battlements and pinnacles, and rebuilt nave and chancel in coursed limestone rubble and ashlar with plain-tiled roofs.

Lincolnshire Heritage Explorer notes a Transitional drum font with pointed arches on coupled shafts, some Perpendicular bench ends, east glass by Burlison and Grylls, and south-chancel glass by Clayton and Bell. The church was listed Grade II on 16 December 1964 (NHLE 1146826).
