# St Giles, Cheddington

St Giles is a Grade II* medieval parish church on Church Path (listed as Station Road), Cheddington, Buckinghamshire, in the Diocese of Oxford. The village is in Buckinghamshire, though some imported records place it in Bedfordshire.

## Overview

Historic England dates the church to the twelfth century, altered in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, with a fifteenth-century west tower and north aisle and a nineteenth-century south porch and north vestry. Buckinghamshire’s heritage record notes a foundation associated with the Chenduits, a chancel arch widened about 1340, and restoration of 1855–56 by G. E. Street, including new roofs, with further work in 1921–25. The fabric is coursed rubble limestone, partly repaired in ashlar and partly rendered.

Fittings include a medieval octagonal stone font, an early-seventeenth-century altar table and pulpit, a poor box dated 1611, and an 1870 tile and mosaic reredos of the Last Supper by Powell and Sons. The church is in the parish of Cheddington with Mentmore.
