Overview
Historic England records an Anglican parish church: fifteenth-century tower, the rest rebuilt in 1860 by T. H. Wyatt, incorporating some medieval fragments. Walls are rubble stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs with coped gables. The plan has a nave and aisles of four bays with clerestory, a chancel with north and south aisles, a projecting sanctuary, west tower and south porch. The three-stage tower has diagonal buttresses, a semi-octagonal north stair turret, and a battlemented parapet with corner pinnacles. Re-used fabric includes an early thirteenth-century nave arcade capital and a reset lancet. There is a fifteenth-century octagonal Purbeck marble font. Listed Grade II* on 20 November 1959 (NHLE 1278555). The legal parish is Corfe Castle. The church is dedicated to St Edward, King and Martyr, associated with the nearby castle.
