# St Edmund, Holme Pierrepont

St Edmund’s is a Grade I Church of England parish church beside Holme Pierrepont Hall, Nottinghamshire, in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham: a medieval church largely recast in 1666 for the Pierrepont family.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church of the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, rebuilt in 1666 by the Marquess of Dorchester, restored in 1878–81 by T. C. Hine when the chancel was rebuilt, with further restorations in 1912 and 1960 and a spire repair of about 1980. The fabric is ashlar with slate roofs. The plan comprises a tower with spire, nave, south aisle, south porch, south organ chamber and chancel. The listing describes a diagonal-buttressed single-stage embattled fourteenth-century tower with a fifteenth-century spire, and north and south ranges lit by 1666 round-arched windows of three lights with tracery. The 1666 porch has an arched entrance with keystone. Pilaster buttresses on the south chapel and aisle carry obelisk finials surmounted by orbs.

The church stands on Holme Lane next to Holme Pierrepont Hall and remains the parish church. Visits are by arrangement.
