Overview

Historic England records a mainly thirteenth-century church with later features: chancel, north chapel, nave with aisles, north porch and west tower with a shingled spire. The listing highlights wall paintings of about 1300, a good early-seventeenth-century pulpit, box pews, and a medieval interior not much restored. The parish describes a sandstone building with fabric from about 1060 and the Nevill Chapel on the site of an earlier church. A tall shingled spire was destroyed in the storm of October 1987 and later replaced. Historic England lists the church as a good example of a medieval parish church with excellent fittings (list entry 1193874).
