# St David, Blaenporth

St David’s is a Grade II Church in Wales church at Blaenporth, Ceredigion, north of the A487, in the Diocese of St Davids.

## Overview

Cadw records an Anglican parish church rebuilt in 1864–65 on an old site by R. J. Withers, considered the best of his small churches. The builders were Thomas, Rees and Jones and the cost was £700. The fabric is Pwntan stone with Bath-stone dressings, a slate roof with terracotta ridges, coped gables and cross finials. The plan is nave, chancel, south porch, north vestry and a west bell turret in High Victorian Gothic. The west end has a battered plinth and a square bell turret with a stone pyramid cap, finial and weathercock.

The nave has a five-bay arched-braced collar-truss roof and a stone chamfered chancel arch. Cadw highlights a magnificent east window of about 1865 by Lavers and Barraud, richly coloured, with the crucified Christ against a circle of scarlet, and a south chancel window of about 1904 by Lavers and Westlake. The church is listed for that glass and as a good example of a small High Victorian church. A place of worship is said to have stood here since before 1066.
