# St Botolph, Church Brampton

St Botolph’s is a Grade II* parish church on Harlestone Road, Church Brampton, Northamptonshire, in the Diocese of Peterborough, serving Church Brampton with Chapel Brampton.

## Overview

Historic England records a fourteenth-century church with nineteenth-century additions, of squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and a slate and lead roof. The plan is an aisled nave, chancel and three-stage west tower. The nineteenth-century chancel south elevation has two two-light windows with reticulated tracery; the east window is of three lights with reticulated tracery. The fourteenth-century south aisle is a three-window range of three-light reticulated windows, with a porch between the first and second bays from the right. The tower has a two-light first-stage window with quatrefoil tracery, two-light openings to each face of the third stage, and a crenellated parapet with crocketed corner pinnacles.

Inside, a four-bay double-chamfered nave arcade has octagonal piers. The nave roof is reputed to date from about 1802; the chancel roof is late nineteenth-century. Stained glass in the east window and a north aisle window is by C. Parish from a drawing by Professor Erckhart of Dresden; another north aisle window is by John Poyntz, with a fragment of medieval glass in the centre north aisle window. A tablet over the south door is dated 1675. The Northamptonshire HER notes a restoration of 1859 when glass was relocated.
