Overview
Wikipedia and the Heritage Gateway record a parish church of early twelfth- to fifteenth-century fabric, restored in 1880 and again in 1891, when the roofs were raised and seating increased. Materials are squared greenstone coursed rubble with limestone ashlar dressings, red brick patching and gables, slate roofs and a timber boarded belfry. The plan is nave with off-centre wooden bell turret, chancel, south porch and north aisle.
The south doorway has a carved Norman tympanum of geometric design, described as Saxo-Norman in character. Inside are a three-tier Jacobean pulpit, Georgian box pews facing in different directions, a screen adapted as a family pew, Royal Arms of Charles I, and old tiled floors. A churchyard cross is separately listed. The church was declared redundant in October 1977 and vested in the Redundant Churches Fund (now the Churches Conservation Trust) in 1979. It stands largely alone beside a farm, four miles south of Horncastle.
