# St Bartholomew, Thurstaston

St Bartholomew’s Church stands at Thurstaston on the Wirral, a Grade II red-sandstone parish church of 1886 by J. L. Pearson in the Diocese of Chester.

## Overview

Pearson replaced an earlier village church with a new building in local red sandstone under tiled roofs, consecrated in 1886. The design is characteristic of his mature Gothic: a compact plan with a strong tower and carefully modelled interiors. The parish remains Anglican.
