# St Andrew & St George, Stockton on Tees

The United Reformed Church of St Andrew and St George is a Grade II Gothic church on Yarm Lane, Stockton-on-Tees, built in 1876 as a Presbyterian church and now the worship home of Stockton United Reformed Church.

## Overview

Historic England lists a former Presbyterian Church of England of 1876: small rubble with a crested slate roof, in Decorated Gothic style. The plan is a three-bay aisled nave, a north transept with presbytery, and a two-stage south-east tower with an ashlar steeple. Side windows have course tracery; there is a large Decorated south window, and a gabled south doorway of two orders with porphyry nook shafts.

Stockton United Reformed Church was formed on 20 September 1987 by joining three central Stockton fellowships — Queens Park URC, St Andrew and St George URC, and Yarm Road Memorial URC — and now worships in this building. The congregation marked a 150th anniversary in 2017. There is no Church of England diocese; the listing still notes the historic C of E parish of Stockton-on-Tees for location only.
