St Andrew, Kirton in Lindsey

St Andrew’s on St Andrews Street, Kirton in Lindsey, Lincolnshire, is a Grade I parish church of the eleventh and twelfth centuries with a thirteenth-century tower, restored in 1860–62, in the Diocese of Lincoln.

Overview

Historic England records a church of the eleventh and twelfth centuries with a thirteenth-century tower, fifteenth-century additions and alterations, restored in 1860–62: the nave by J. H. Hakewill of London and the chancel by E. Christian of Lincoln. Materials are limestone rubble and squared limestone with limestone ashlar dressings and tower parapet, and a plate roof. There is a massive three-stage thirteenth-century west tower with a pointed west door of three shafted orders, stiff-leaf capitals, and dog-tooth mouldings, and a fifteenth-century battlemented parapet. The nave has four-bay aisles and a fifteenth-century clerestory. Listed Grade I on 6 November 1967 (NHLE 1083025). The legal parish is Kirton in Lindsey.
