# St Andrew, Cranford

St Andrew’s is a Grade II* redundant church in the park of Cranford Hall, Cranford St Andrew, Northamptonshire, in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust since 1996.

## Overview

Historic England lists a parish church, later a chapel of ease, of late twelfth-century origin, with a late thirteenth-century tower, alterations of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and of 1674, and a restoration and north transept of 1847. The fabric is coursed limestone rubble, partly rendered to the east, with a scattering of ironstone ashlar dressings; roofs are probably lead. The plan is a west tower, nave with north aisle, south porch and north transept, and chancel with north and south chapels. The two-stage tower has set-back buttresses, a steeply pointed west doorway and a castellated parapet. Listing NGR is SP 92386 77271.

Wikipedia, citing the listing and county histories, records a surviving late twelfth-century nave arcade, a thirteenth-century rebuild with north chapel, a fourteenth-century clerestory and porch, a fifteenth-century south chapel refaced in ashlar in 1674, and a north transept of 1847 as a family pew for the Robinsons of Cranford Hall. The church was vested in the Churches Conservation Trust on 1 December 1996 and stands in the park south-west of the hall. It is open daily.
