# St Andrew, Corbridge

St Andrew is a Grade I parish church in the Market Place at Corbridge, Northumberland, with a late seventh- or eighth-century nave and an early-eleventh-century tower, in the Diocese of Newcastle.

## Overview

Historic England lists the church (1303508, 15 April 1969). The nave is late seventh- or eighth-century; a two-storey west porch was raised into a tower in the early eleventh century. Thirteenth-century campaigns rebuilt the chancel and added aisles and transepts. The fabric is rubble with re-used Roman stone from Corbridge (Coria). The unmoulded round-headed tower arch is thought to be a reset Roman feature. Pre-Conquest windows survive over the north arcade. Later work includes a south-west vestry of 1835, aisle and transept rebuilding in 1867, and a south porch of 1919. The parish website is corbridgechurch.org.uk.
