# St Adwena, Advent

St Adwen’s at Advent, near Camelford on the edge of Bodmin Moor, is a Grade I parish church dedicated to St Adwen, with a thirteenth-century tower and north transept and a fifteenth-century south aisle, in the Diocese of Truro.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church dedicated to St Adwen, with a Norman font, a thirteenth-century north transept and west tower, a fifteenth-century south aisle, and restorations of 1847–48, the 1870s and 1975. Materials are local stone rubble, granite ashlar to the south porch and aisle, a slate roof, and a three-stage tower of roughly squared granite with eight crocketed pinnacles. The west door is blocked; three thirteenth-century lancets were reset in the rebuilt north transept. The south-aisle wagon roof was restored rather than replaced. Listed Grade I on 17 December 1962 (NHLE 1328128). The church stands in a field near Tresinney and is part of the Camel-Allen Benefice. Wikipedia notes it as the only church in Cornwall with eight pinnacles to its tower.
