# Cemetery Road Baptist Church, Sheffield

Cemetery Road Baptist Church is a Grade II Baptist church on Cemetery Road (with an address on Napier Street), Sheffield, opened in 1859.

## Overview

Historic England lists the Baptist church and adjoining Sunday school as of 1858–59 and 1900, with later twentieth-century alterations. The fabric is red brick and coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs, in a Neo-Norman style. The west gable has a central wheel window and a round-arched triple arcade, flanked by square three-stage towers with slated octagonal spires. Six-bay returns have paired round-arched windows. The interior is a single space with a panelled gallery on four sides on cast-iron columns, a 1920 traceried pulpit, and a First World War memorial. The congregation was formed in 1839 and worshipped first in Rockingham Street and then in Eyre Street before moving here; the building was opened on 12 May 1859. Further teaching accommodation was added in the 1860s and in 1900. The listing does not name the architect.
